Janice McQueen-Ward

Janice McQueen-Ward is a national spokesperson for Lung Cancer Awareness and is proactively working towards increased research, funding, and awareness both as an advocate and phone buddy with Lung Cancer Alliance and as an advocate with National Lung Cancer Partnership.

Having lost her mother and uncle, the legendary actor Steve McQueen, to this killer, Janice brings a very personal passion to her platform. Since lung cancer has the highest death rate of any cancer nationwide, Janice continues to partner with NLCP and LCA in her vision and fight to bring cancer issues to the forefront in every state.

Janice was recently appointed to the Advisory Board and Outreach Committee for National Lung Cancer Partnership. As a representative of NLCP, she served as lobbyist and guest speaker during ‘United for Lung Health Days’ in Washington, DC, where she told her story and enlisted the help of the Senate and Congress for Lung Health Initiatives. While speaking to the Environment and Public Works Committee on May 14th, Janice shared her mom’s story, and the need for increased funding for Lung Cancer Research. This opportunity initiated the support of Senator Boxer, who is writing and sponsoring a Bill for Lung Cancer Funding. Janice is working with Lung Cancer Alliance and Senator Boxer to introduce this Bill in the next few months!

Janice studied at the North Carolina School of the Arts, the University of North Carolina, and Elon University where she earned a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Music. She is a professional actress, a musician, and a Marketing Consultant with Laughing Cat Productions.

In addition to being Mrs. Indiana International, other honors include: Outstanding Young Women of America recipient, special guest of President and Mrs. Clinton for Mother's Day in 2000, and ‘Key to the City’ of East Chicago, Indiana.

Janice and her husband Tony celebrated their 17th wedding anniversary this year and are the very proud parents of son, Cameron.
